Character Name: Fuuka Yamagishi
Canon: Persona 3
Canon Point: Post True End
Background/History:
Personality:
Early in the game, Fuuka's character is introduced as a rumor; she's nothing more than a few informed attributes. Akihiko notes that they may have found a new persona user, someone in the same grade as the protagonist but in a different class, but they're apprehensive to recruit her because she's known to be frail and sickly. As such, she's nearly discounted as a persona user, and doesn't come up again for a while.

Later, we hear more about Fuuka; this time, we learn that she's bullied by a group of girls at Gekkoukan. While Yukari expresses how detestable this is, nothing is done about it. That is, until Fuuka goes missing. After being locked in the school gym by the group of girls, she disappears, and the group of girls that bullied her one by one end up unconscious in front of the school's entrance. A rumor begins to circle that Fuuka's vengeful spirit is picking the girls off, but SEES knows better; she's been trapped in Tartarus, and has been there, stuck in time for a number of days. They begin to stage a mission to save Fuuka.

We finally meet Fuuka on the night of the full moon in Tartarus, where we find her frantic and horrified by her ghastly environment. Junpei ponders how she's managed to survive for so long, given that her persona had yet to activate, and Fuuka notes that she was able to 'sense' what corridors lead to shadows, an ability given to her by her persona.

As they make their way out of Tartarus, the leader of the group of girls who bullied Fuuka stumbles in to it, dazed and being called by the shadows. They are attacked by two large ones, and the group is nearly crushed when Fuuka's persona activates, shielding them from its attacks.

Insecure and bearing low confidence in her self and worth, it's easy to see what made her an easy target for bullying. This is coupled by her natural gentle nature and tendency to forgive easily; she'd never put up a fight against her assailants. She even runs to Natsuki's aid when she's about to be attacked by shadows, the fact that she'd caused her so much pain never even crossing her mind. Truly, Fuuka is a selfless girl who puts more value in others than she does herself, ending with a very self-deprecating girl who has a difficult time socializing with others; a girl who does her best to appease the people around her because she's so horrified of them having a bad opinion of her.

Fuuka can be a bit awkward. She's used to being pretty friendless and keeping to herself; she spends most of her free time on the internet, a place she can easily express herself without judgment or fear of saying something stupid. Fuuka also has a tendency to state the obvious, a trait that varies from being cute to awkward to almost inappropriate; she knows how to be tactful, though, and is mindful of what she says more often than not. On the weekends, she is the one most often seen staying home, stating that she'd rather stay at the dorm on her laptop then venture outside on her days off.

There's a certain purity about Fuuka that is hard to find in other people. She has an unconditional way of appreciating others, and always has a kind word for everyone; she's bashful, encouraging, and innocent to many of Junpei's perverted jokes, Fuuka is a kind girl who has a calming aura. Though she can get nervous in social situations, she is very level-headed in stressful situations and a source of inspiration for the rest of SEES. She's also quite good with animals, and is often shown, along with Shinjiro, as being the one who takes the most care of Koromaru, a dog who has a persona and lives in the dorm. She's modest, as well; she wears clothes the others remark old women would wear, and notes that she feels exposed when she buys a two piece bathing suit, which she contemplates taking back to exchange.

There is a latent insecurity in Fuuka that stems from family issues. She has a family of doctors, but her parents were the only ones that failed to live up to this standard. As such, her parents put a lot of pressure on her to succeed. Fuuka's insecurity lies in an inferiority complex surrounding her own femininity and usefulness; this is seen in her social link, where she asks the protagonist to assist her in becoming a better cook. She feels that it's both a useful and feminine ability, one that would assist SEES beyond just acting as support.

Unfortunately, Fuuka was not meant for cooking. Even by the end of her social link, she only improves marginally. However, she comes to the realization that her true passion, technology, while not particularly 'ladylike', is something that she's both good with and satisfies her. She decides to pursue that with the protagonist's help, and forms a technology club at her school. She also stops using comparisons between herself and Yukari and Mitsuru as a way to base what she needs to improve upon. Through her social link, she discovers that she does have worth, and that worth stems from being herself and embracing her own flaws as well as her own strengths.

Fuuka's character development culminates in October, when Natsuki, who she had become fast friends with after the incident where Fuuka had gotten lost in Tartarus, transfers to another school. After speaking with her, she resolves that she now knows what it is that she wants, and she's going to stop trying to live her life trying to fit in; instead, she'd live her life 'connecting' people, because what really makes her happy is seeing the people she cares about smiling.

"The power to connect people, even when they're apart.. my persona has given me this amazing gift."

After this, Fuuka's persona evolves from Lucia to Juno, and with her persona, she, too, evolves. The fact that Fuuka's persona is one of support is telling about how she really is. While she is thought to be weak and unable to help, she hides a hidden strength that lies in supporting others. Within SEES, she is something like a cornerstone that keeps the ragtag group together, whether it be with her technological expertise or her kind, thoughtful encouragement. Fuuka develops from an anxious, fragile girl with low self-worth to a compassionate and strong-willed woman, who's unafraid to take chances if it means her friends will better from it.

From the very beginning, Fuuka holds a secret, internal strength; a courageous soul willing to risk her life to protect the people she loves and be useful to them. Even when she's mostly involved with all of the drama surrounding the dark hour, she's always there to lend a helping hand and act as support for the others. In a conversation with Junpei, she openly admits how horrified she is about the approaching months, about how unsure the future is — but resolves to stay true to herself and help, despite her fears. That is true bravery.

Abilities/Powers:
Fuuka is a normal human girl with the extraordinary ability to use a persona. Bearing the priestess arcana, she lacks any combat abilities but makes up for this with having many support abilities. Along with being able to communicate telepathically with other persona users and being able to sense the presence of shadows, she has the follow capabilities:
▶ Full Analyze: Reveal targeted enemy's stats, weakness, and skills
Support Scan: Automatically reveals any stat skills in effect
▶ Third Eye: Automatically analyzes whether that an attack will be effective or not
▶ Healing Wave: Restores 15% HP after ascending a floor in Tartarus
▶ Oracle: After a period of time, either fully restores HP, fully restores SP, cures status ailments, restores HP and SP, or reduces HP and SP to 1. Can only be used once a battle.
▶ Escape Route: Automatically return to the entrance of Tartarus no matter where you are inside the tower.
Also note that while personas can be summoned without the use of an evoker, it generally requires a very stressful situation to incur this. As such, the evoker acts as a stimuli that triggers (heh) an immediate response, and, in turn, summons a persona. Also note that while Fuuka can keep her persona out for extended periods of time, she is immobile when she is accessing her.
Items/Weapons:
▶ (1) evoker
▶ (1) Gekkoukan High School Uniform
▶ (1) Dorm Key

Sample Entry:
Hello, Haven! [ Fuuka's tone is cheery, maybe a bit disconcerting considering the setting. She'd been here for a few days, and had gotten settled in, and she felt like there was no use dwelling on the subject of being here too much. Either way, she clearly has a purpose for recording this. ] I was just wondering if anyone happened to have seen a laptop around anywhere. I've heard that there isn't any source of wi-fi or outsourced communication opportunities here besides these cell phones, but I was thinking I might be able to refurbish one into something useful. At least, it's worth a shot, I think. I'd like to support everyone as best as I can.

... Oh! [ Her helpful smile subsides into a more disheveled expression. ] This is my first recording, so I suppose I should introduce myself! I'm sorry! I only know a select few of you guys, mostly just my roommates. My name is Fuuka Yamagishi, and I'm a second year at Gekkoukan High. [ She blushes a bit after saying this, letting out an awkward laugh. ] Well, I guess that information isn't too pertinent here. I'm so used to introducing myself that way, it just slipped out.. aha.. Anyway, if anyone has any information, please contact me! Thank you.

Sample Entry Two: At least two paragraphs in third person/prose format, please. A link to a previous log or thread with the character is also acceptable.
